Lifesaver Course in Suva January 2011
Six of us went for a lifesaving course in Suva. Fiji Outrigger organised the course with 2 Instructors from NZ/ Australia. It was very useful. We learned about waves, rescueing people in the sea, cpr and first aid. The last day saw practical exercises and swimming in the olympic pool in suva and later on mock- up rescueing drills while paddling in the ocean. It was fun since we were together with all the other Suva Club paddlers from Tafaga, Takia, USP and Kaiwai. Tafaga almost killed us with grog overdoze and thanx for the big bbq on saturday !

Mini Regatta July 2010
The club organised a Mini Regatta for Savusavu. Beginners were invited to participate in 3 categories open/ U19 and U15. We invited Savusavu business houses, schools, institutions etc. to get more people interested in our sport and recruit new members. Before the competition started we gave a short introduction in paddling. It was a day full of fun with sprint and marathon races, a prize ceremony and after race with live band. In the open category started 3 teams with paddlers from town or villages as well as some yachties and peacecorp volunteers. Some of them became club members. The U15 boys team from yaroi village joined our youth . We decided to have fun races more regularely.
